التاريخ والمعاصر \ الآن ..و هى نسخة جديدة حيث يأتي الملتقى المتخصص في الفنون الأدائية والمسرح في ظروف عالمية استثنائية غالبا سيطلق على هذه الأوضاع في المستقبل وصف لحظات وأوقات تاريخية كالكثير من الأوقات التي عايشناها منذ مطلع القرن الواحد والعشرين . الآن كل ماهو نشاط  جماعي واجتماعي معطل أو معدل وبالطبع المسرح في مقدمة الأنشطة الإنسانية المتضررة من الجائحة .يأتي المهرجان هذا العام بعد إلغاء نسخة ٢٠٢٠ بمحاولة لإستكشاف هذا التطور الناجم عن إنتشار الوباء وتبعاته من إغلاق عام وحظر للسفر وإجراءات احترازية تمنع التجمعات حاولنا من خلالها الحفاظ على توجهاتنا المنحازة للفنون الأدائية التي تتقاطع مع المجتمع والسياسة  وبناء على ذلك تأتي هذه النسخة في شكل هجين ومختلط بين اللقاء المعتاد الحي والتواصل الإلكتروني الرقمي ، الفعاليات تتنوع بين عروض أفلام عن المسرح والرقص المعاصر وورش عمل وعروض مسرحية رقمية \ أونلاين .

A new edition of Theater Is A Must Forum titled “History and the Contemporary / now”. The forum which focuses on  theater and performing arts comes in times of extreme global circumstances. In the future, these times will be remembered and described as historic, not unlike many events we’ve witnessed since the turn of the 21st century.  Every collective or social activity/gathering has now been either put on hold or adapted to a new format, and of course, theater is on the top of the list of human activities that have been negatively affected by the pandemic.This year’s edition of the forum comes after the cancelation of the 2020 edition in an attempt to explore the developments succeeding the spread of the pandemic and all the ramifications that followed in the aftermath; from lockdowns to travel restrictions to precautionary measures banning gatherings.We try, through this edition, to preserve our biased tendencies for performing arts that intersect with society and politics. To that end, this edition comes in a hybrid format between our usual live meetings and digital communication. The events will vary between theater & contemporary dance film screenings, workshops, and online streamed theater performances.

النسخة السادسة من الملتقى تحت عنوان ”تجاوز” والتي تٌعقد خلال الفترة من ٢٧مارس حتى٤ أبريل ٢٠١٩ بالأسكندرية تركز على العروض المعاصرة التي تناقش واقعنا المعاصر للحروب والهجرة واللجوء، مع التركيز على المدن والحدود والهويات. تحاول هذه النسخة استكشاف كيفية تعاملنا، بوصفنا مواطنين عالميين في سياقات مختلفة، مع هذا الواقع المشترك. ما الذي يحثنا على احتضان الآخر؟ هل يهدد الآخر هويتنا؟ ما مدى ارتفاع أسوارنا؟ ولمن نقيمها أو نهدمها؟ومع عودة ظهور الحركات اليمينية المتطرفة على مستوى العالم، واكتساب الزخم بهدف قوي لنشر الكراهية تجاه الآخر، وإغلاق الدول مرة أخرى على أنفسهم باستخدام الخطاب الفاشي واستخدام القومية والشعبوية، فإن هذه المنصة المؤقتة تكون بمثابة فضاء مفتوح سيتم فيه استجواب ونقد ومواجهة مثل هذا الخطاب.

This edition of Theater Is A Must Forum “Crossing Over”:Theater Is A Must ForumPlatform for political and contemporary theaterTheater Is A Must International Theater forum in Alexandria, Egypt is mainly concerned with presenting contemporary political and socio-political theater productions from the MENA region and Europe created in the wake of the Arab Spring.The 6th edition of the forum is themed “Crossing Over, تجاوز” and held from March 27th till April 4th 2019 in Alexandria. This edition focuses on contemporary productions that discuss our contemporary reality of wars, immigration, and refuge with an emphasis on cities, borders, and identities. This edition attempts to explore how we, as global citizens in different contexts, deal with this common reality. What urges us to embrace the other? Does the other threaten our identity? How high are our fences? For whom do we raise them up, or bring them down? As radical right-wing movements are globally re-emerging and gaining momentum with a strong purpose to spread hatred towards the other and to close nations back onto themselves using fascist discourse and utilizing nationalism and populism, this temporary platform serves as an open space where such discourse will be questioned, scrutinized, and countered.

"لازم مسرح" ملتقي مسرحي دولي يُقام في الإسكندرية – مصر، ويُعنى بشكل أساسي بتقديم الإنتاج المسرحي السياسي والاجتماعي/السياسي المعاصر من منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا وأوروبا، ذلك الإنتاج الذي تم إبداعه في أعقاب الربيع العربي؛ وذلك عن طريق تنظيم الورش المسرحية، وإقامة الحوارات والمناقشات حول السياسات الثقافية والمشهد المسرحي المعاصر حاليا في أوروبا والمنطقة العربية يشجع الملتقى الأشكال الجديدة من المسرح المعاصر التي يمكن تسميتها بالأشكال التجريبية/البديلة في مقابل الإنتاج المتأسس جماليا على القيم الكلاسيكية/التجارية التي تشجعها مسارح العامة والسوق التجاري بشكل حصري.
الدورة الخامسة من الملتقى والتي من المقرر عقدها خلال الفترة من ٢٧ مارس حتى ٤ أبريل  ٢٠١٨ في الإسكندرية ستركز على الاستمرار في تسليط الضوء على أعمال مخرجات مسرح من مصر ومن المنطقة العربية ومن أوروبا، تحت عنوان "سرديات نسائية"

"لكي يدخل العروسان إلى عش الزوجية يستأجران فرقة موسيقية لمصاحبة زفافهما إلى حياتهما الجديدة، إلا أن العروسين يتأخران عن الحفل. و بينما تنتظرهما الأوركسترا، يبدأ الموسيقيون في حياة أخرى خاصة بهم لا تشوبهما لحظة ملل. إنها حياة تراجيدية بشكل صادم، و شنيعة، و تلمس المشاعر. و يبدو أن الموسيقى التي كانت من المفترض أن تفتتح حياة جديدة قد أصبحت أقرب إلى خاتمة كبيرة!"

For decades in our countries, streets and squares resembled public theatres: platforms for proclamation and exchange of opinions. Masses of people expressed themselves freely, individually and together, in public. Recently they formed a different force when participating publicly in calls for transformation of the world and of the Arab region especially - they were publics.The third edition of "Theater is a Must" focuses on the public and the audience. Together with you, we will examine: What is the public? Who are the recipients of a theatre that spotlights social and political realities? Is the audience interested in the reflection of movement and fluidity in public spaces? Does the public need to form a new theatre and a new theatrical language?Based on different perspectives and realities, this year’s forum highlights the concept of the public through interactive theatre presentations from Egypt, the Arab region and Europe that will be presented in cultural spaces and theatres in Alexandria. All selected performances, talks, screenings, workshops and publications are based on a common contemporary approach that interlinks artistic expression with social and political engagement.Particularly young people are invited to participate in professional discussions about new possibilities and spaces to develop divergent and critical ideas. By reconsidering the concept of the public, a common path can be laid out that includes important signs of resonance and cooperation. These aspects are mirrored in the performances and events built on methodologies and theatrical practices unlocking and using the intelligence of a group - doing something together that can’t be done alone.Together with you, during this year's "Theater = a Must" Forum, we wish to reflect and develop new ideas about the public.
